Weaving

 6th grade goal - Learn how to weave. Weave columns. Focus on keeping the weft even (avoid the girdled look).
 7th grade goal – Weave two columns
 8th grade goal – Weave a checkerboard pattern. Majors will do make a more complex weaving (their initials for example).

Vocabulary: Loom, Warp, Weft, beater bar, shuttle, craft, weaving, weaver, synthetic & natural fibers. 

NCSOS Objectives: 1.01 Plan and organize for creating art. 1.02 Explore strategies for imagining and implementing images. 2.01 Discriminate in deciding the effectiveness of various media techniques to reach an artistic solution. 2.02 Apply materials such that their unique properties and potential impact the artistic solution.
* Use computer terminology ROWS and COLUMNS to describe the warp and weft.
