Projects
1. Introduction: Getting to know your camera / The Frame: Students will learn the difference between a digital compact camera and a SRL camera. How do you upload, and organize photographs. They will also be learning the following terms: shutter lag, megapixel, and zoom range. Students will learn how the orientation of the camera affects the viewer’s interpretation of the photograph, and will learn how to manipulate the size and shape of the photo frame through applications on their ChromeBook.
2. Line: Students will be photographing naturally occurring lines (ex: power lines, street signs, buildings, etc.), trying to evoke a feeling of energy or calm, chaos or organization. Students will also experiment with the fish eye effect on their camera and see how unnatural curves affects the image.
3. Repetition: Students will be photographing both naturally occurring and staged repetition. They will focus on pattern, texture, and placement.
4. Black and White Photography: Students will use editing software to turn color images black and white, they will focus on adjusting the values of individual colors and changing the overall contrast level of the image.
5. Color: Student will be taking photographs using the color wheel as a guide. They will focus on primary colors, secondary, complementary, analogous, warm, and cool. In Photoshop they will learn how to adjust the saturation of their images, change the overall hue of an image, tint an image, and how to change the color of individual elements in their photographs.
6. Landscape: Students will be taking pictures outside focusing on the placement of the horizon line and the level of perspective or depth in the image. In Photoshop they will learn how to stitch photographs together to make a panoramic and it increase or decrease the depth of an image.
7. Macro Photography: Students will be using the macro setting on their camera to take close up pictures.
8. Action photography: Students will be capturing motion, both blurred and in focus.
9. Portrait: Photograph the same subject in different ways. Make them look mean, nice, old, young, tall, short, big, small, important, or insignificant. Take both staged and candid pictures. Take a picture in different light settings; natural light, lit from above, below, side lighting, harsh lighting, soft lighting.

10. Documentary (Self) : Show a day in your life through photographs the important and “unimportant” things in your everyday life.
11. Cubist photography: Students will be taking several photographs of the same object or figure, then assemble them in Photoshop to show all sides of their subject in one image.
12. Adding / Subtracting: Students will be adding and subtracting people or objects in their photographs using Photoshop.
13. Exploring Photography Careers: aerial photographer, architectural photographer, camera operator, cinematographer, digital technician, fashion photographer, fine art photographer, newspaper or magazine photographer, photojournalist, portrait photographer.
